The Work That's Hard to See.

The visitor economy touches nearly every part of a city at once.

It fills hotel rooms and airline seats. It keeps restaurants open on a
Tuesday in February. It employs students, newcomers and career
professionals in the same building on the same shift. It is the reason
a national and international association and event rights holders pick
Saskatoon over somewhere else, and the reason the delegates who
come here tell people about it afterwards.

Most of that work is invisible. It happens in bid documents, in
volunteer committees, in a restaurant kitchen, in a University lab,
and front desks, and in conversations that take three years to turn
into a result.

This evening makes it visible, not only to the industry, but to the
civic, business and government leaders sitting in the room. The
program includes a State of the Visitor Economy address from
Discover Saskatoon's CEO, setting out what this sector contributes to
Saskatoon and what it needs next.
